Our Position on AI and Art
Artificial Intelligence is seeping into every corner of daily life, and the Black Metal scene is no exception. It is time to draw a clear line and state openly how we view AI: where we might use it as a mere tool, and where we reject it outright.
AI is, at its core, nothing more than a tool. Like the hammer of the craftsman, or the chisel of the sculptor, it can make certain tasks faster, more efficient, and sometimes easier. We, too, make use of it—for translations, for corrections, for programming. But when it comes to art, AI has no place.
Yes, every artist makes use of tools: the painter of his brush, the musician of his instrument, the poet of his pen. But what makes art come alive is not the tool—it is talent. And talent is rare. Talent cannot be manufactured, cannot be spread evenly among mankind. It belongs only to the gifted few who can transform tools into genuine works of creation.
AI flattens this distinction. It reduces talent to mere data, and churns out endless imitations from the carcass of true art. It cannot create.
It can only rearrange what has already existed—cutting apart music and images, shuffling them like a deck of stolen cards, and pretending the result is “new.” But where no human talent breathes life into the work, there is no creativity. And where there is no creativity, there is no art.
For this reason, we categorically reject all songs, all lyrics, all images generated by AI. They will not be part of our releases. Should anyone attempt to deceive us by smuggling such hollow imitations into our world, the collaboration will end immediately. If any such release has already appeared under our banner, it will be pulled from circulation, and the remaining copies destroyed without hesitation.
We stand with the true artists of this scene. Always have, always will. They are the ones who deserve support, recognition, and survival—not soulless counterfeits.
Be creative. Hone your talent. That is the only path to our respect and support.
